Ethnic stereotypes and welfare preferences

In the framework of the research on ethnic stereotypes and welfare preferences (supperted by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund, no. K76223), data collection was realised by three experiment-like methods. The subject of the research was the interaction between attitudes towards the Roma and the poor.

In 2010, a text vignette study was carried out among students, in wich the participants was asked to choose between two individuals applying for social benefit.

In 2011, the video version of the vignette study was realised: according the the degree of ethnicity and poverty, four versions of the same video-report were shown to the research participants.

In 2012, an adult sampled survey was carried out in four cities (Budapest, Győr, Miskolc, pécs). Participants were put in a hypothetical decision making situations with the help of a newspaper article-like description. There were four types of situations, with photo. Participants had to make evaluations about the situation they had chosen.
